Liverpool fans felt a bit upset after Curtis Jones’ post-match interview following Inter Milan’s 3-2 win over Napoli, where Inter came from behind to win.
Jones, 25, recently moved from Liverpool to Inter for £30 million. He joined Inter at half-time and helped his new team turn the game around. He spent 16 years at Liverpool, coming up through their academy and playing 228 games. But, like Trent Alexander-Arnold, who upset some fans after joining Real Madrid, Jones might be heading down a similar path.
On Saturday, Jones played a big part in Inter’s amazing comeback. Napoli had taken a two-goal lead early in the second half, but Inter fought back with goals from Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, who scored twice including the winner in stoppage time. Jones impressed with his key pass, an 89% pass success rate, and winning duels, showing great energy and skill in the midfield during the last 30 minutes.
While many praised Jones for changing the game, some Liverpool fans didn’t like what he said after the match. He said, “I just feel at home with the lads. Since day one, they’ve been amazing, so I can be myself. Of course, I have a point to prove, but I know if I’m just myself, the lads, staff, and fans will like me. I’ve been able to enjoy the game without feeling like I need to prove anything. The lads already know what I can do.”

He once said something similar when a new coach arrived, hinting Klopp didn’t suit him. Jones seems to have settled in well at Inter and gained the coach’s trust. After a strong performance, he’s likely to start against Real Madrid in an upcoming big game.
Answering those who say Italy’s Serie A is boring, Jones said, “Some say Serie A is boring and the Premier League isn’t, but you didn’t see that today. The coaches here are great, and the tactics are smart. Today’s game was exciting with lots of chances. The coach made great tactical changes that helped us win. Italian teams never give up—it was a real show.”
