Fans were surprised when they saw who was performing ‘Viking Row’ in the crowd during the England game.
A surprising face was seen in the Miami Stadium crowd during Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final between Norway and England – and he even joined in with the popular ‘Viking Row’ chant.
England will take on the defending champions Argentina in an exciting semi-final on Wednesday (June 15), after Jude Bellingham scored twice to help England beat Stale Solbakken’s Norway 2-1.
It’s been quite a journey for the Three Lions in this World Cup, topping Group L with seven points from three games thanks to wins over Croatia and Panama, plus a 0-0 draw against Ghana.
Harry Kane’s two goals against DR Congo led England to a round of 16 match-up with co-hosts Mexico, which became one of the most thrilling games of the tournament so far.
That 3-2 win even got a 9/5/10 rating from fans on Series Graph, making it the second highest-rated game of the World Cup, just behind Argentina’s round of 32 victory over Cape Verde.
One of Mexico’s standout players was 17-year-old wonderkid Gilberto Mora, who was actually spotted in the stands on Saturday watching England versus Norway.
Mora, who plays for Liga MX team Tijuana, was seen hanging out with his agent Rafaela Pimenta before the match started.
Later in the game, the young attacking midfielder, wearing a Norway shirt, joined in with the famous ‘Viking Row’ chant while sitting among hundreds of Norwegian fans in Miami.
Fans couldn’t believe their eyes seeing Mora on TV joining the chant.
One fan said, “This is the last person I expected to see—I’m laughing so hard,” while another wrote, “Dang, that’s wild.”
Another added, “Gilberto Mora lost to England twice in the same World Cup. Tough luck.”
One more fan noticed, “Wait… I didn’t know Gilberto Mora and Haaland have the same agent. That’s a cool connection,” and someone else said, “A crossover I didn’t know I needed.”
Mora is known as one of the best young talents in world football, and after a breakout season with club and country, he’s catching the eye of many top clubs.
Big teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested, and Arsenal is keeping an eye on the talented Mexican.
Liverpool is also planning a move this summer, according to Football Insider, which says the club is “ready to make a move” if Mora shows signs of leaving Tijuana.
Transfer expert Pete O’Rourke said, “He’s one of the breakout stars of the World Cup. Liverpool is among the clubs interested in Mora and watching closely.”
He added, “Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich—they’re all interested. If Mora decides to move, expect the big teams to go after him.”
