FPL managers have found a clever trick to build superteams ahead of GW3!
Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have found a clever way around one of the game’s rules just before Gameweek 3. The transfer window closed on Tuesday at 11pm, and many players waited until the last minute to make changes to their teams, hoping to avoid any surprises.
There have been lots of player moves between Premier League clubs, like Jack Grealish going on loan from Manchester City to Everton, and Ben Chilwell moving from Chelsea to Crystal Palace. But the biggest transfer was Enzo Fernandez leaving Chelsea for Manchester City in a huge £125 million deal. City also signed Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye for £60 million before the deadline.
These transfers have created a fun quirk in FPL. Normally, you can only pick three players from the same club, and the game won’t let you go over that limit. But because the transfers just happened, Fernandez still shows as a Chelsea player, and Ndiaye still appears as an Everton player in FPL. This means you can pick both players as if they were still with their old teams, and any points they earn playing for Manchester City will count like normal.
So this weekend, you can actually have five Manchester City players on your FPL team! Just keep in mind, this isn’t a permanent loophole. The rules say if you have more than three players from one club, your next transfer has to be someone from that club until you’re back down to three.
Fernandez could be a great pick since he scored 10 goals and made five assists last season. He costs £6.9m, which is affordable, and he’s likely ready to play since he took part in Chelsea’s pre-season and the opening games.
Ndiaye is also a strong option. He’s a £6m midfielder who scored six goals and made three assists last season. Midfielders get more points for goals in FPL than forwards, so that’s a bonus. He’s started all three of Everton’s games so far, even the Carabao Cup match. Everton replaced him with Grealish, who was a solid FPL player last year with two goals and six assists before he got injured.
