Harry Kane makes a promise to his England teammates after winning the Ballon d’Or for the first time

Harry Kane made a big promise to his Bayern Munich and England teammates after winning the Ballon d’Or on Monday.

After an amazing year with both club and country, Kane won this top prize for the first time, beating stars like Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal.

He received the award in his hometown and gave a heartfelt speech, thanking everyone who helped him reach the very top of football.

In 2026, the 33-year-old scored an incredible 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern and added 12 goals for England.

Kane celebrated at a special party in a Soho nightclub but stayed humble, saying he wants to share his success with his teammates.

He plans to give gifts to his Bayern and England teammates to thank them for their support, with watches being one idea.

Kane said, “Some of the lads have asked for watches or something like that, so I’ll have to think of something nice for them, both at Bayern and with England. I want to make sure everyone gets a great gift.”

At the ceremony, Kane wore a rare Rolex Daytona worth nearly £1 million.

He is now England’s sixth Ballon d’Or winner, joining legends like Sir Stanley Matthews, Sir Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan, and Michael Owen.

His next big moment will be at Wembley, where Kane is expected to show off the Ballon d’Or before England’s UEFA Nations League game against Croatia.

Kane is England’s top goalscorer by far, with 91 goals in 125 games.

He also shares the record for most England appearances with legendary goalkeeper Peter Shilton. If he plays against Croatia, Kane will become England’s most-capped player ever.

There’s even talk of Kane possibly getting a knighthood soon.

A Downing Street spokesperson didn’t rule out a knighthood in the New Year’s honours list but said they wouldn’t “pre-empt the honours process.”

Kane already has an MBE, given to him in 2019 after his World Cup success. Being made a “Sir” is a real possibility considering his achievements.

For example, Sir Bobby Charlton won the Ballon d’Or in 1966 but wasn’t knighted until 1994. Sir Stanley Matthews got an OBE a year after winning the first-ever Ballon d’Or in 1956 and was knighted in 1967.
