Harry Kane’s chances of coming back to Tottenham have been shared after an agreement with Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich is getting closer to agreeing on a new contract with Harry Kane. While this might slow down his chances of coming back to the Premier League for now, a future move back to England’s top league is still possible.
Talk about Kane’s future at Bayern has been going on for a while, especially after his best season ever at club level. The 33-year-old scored an amazing 61 goals in 51 games for the German club. Bayern made it to the Champions League semi-finals but lost to Paris Saint-Germain, who ended up winning the tournament.
Kane kept up his incredible form during the World Cup, scoring six goals and helping England reach the semi-finals before they lost to Argentina in the final moments. After the tournament ended, many wondered what would happen with his club career since his current contract with Bayern runs until June 2027.
This had people talking about a possible return to the Premier League, with Tottenham, Manchester United, and even Barcelona showing interest. Manchester United’s co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is a big fan and looked into signing Kane, but the striker seems focused on staying with Bayern.
In late July, Kane said he would start contract talks with Bayern after his summer break, and now that’s happening. The Times reports that Kane is expected to get a new deal until June 2029, just before he turns 36. This means a Premier League return is unlikely this summer.
Kane wants to win more trophies in Germany for now, but after that, he could have other plans. TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey says the new contract could be done by the end of August. Bayern and Kane are making good progress, which is great news for the club but disappointing for Tottenham.
Spurs have hoped for a fairytale return for Kane, who scored 280 goals in 435 games for them. The new three-year deal makes a big transfer less likely, but it doesn’t close the door on a future return.
According to reports, Bayern is willing to offer Kane this deal even though he’s getting older, and they believe it still leaves a chance for him to come back to the Premier League later. Kane could even have a couple of seasons left in England after his time in Germany.
There’s also talk about Kane coming back to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goal record of 260. Right now, Kane is 47 goals behind the Newcastle legend. If he stays at the top of his game until he’s 36, he could finish his career at Spurs and become the league’s all-time top scorer.
