How AEW will remember Pac as police share new information about his sad passing
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Benjamin Satterley sadly passed away in Des Plaines, Illinois, at just 40 years old. Known by his ring name Pac, he was found in his rental car outside a CAVA restaurant the day after an AEW show in Chicago.
The cause of his death isn’t known yet, but reports say there’s nothing suspicious about the situation. Emergency responders, including police and paramedics, arrived expecting to find someone resting in the car.
AEW owner Tony Khan spoke to fans before Monday’s Ring of Honor event, announcing that this week’s AEW Dynamite will be a special tribute to Pac. After a 10-bell salute, Khan said, “It’s important for us to take a moment and remember someone who achieved so much — not just as a wrestler, but as a friend. He was dedicated and talented, and I truly believe he became one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.”
This Wednesday’s Dynamite will take place in Pittsburgh, where Pac and Jon Moxley had a memorable main event back in October 2019 — the city’s first Dynamite show.
Khan also shared a heartfelt statement on Sunday: “Benjamin Satterley was an amazing husband and friend, as well as an incredible athlete and professional. He showed dedication and love for wrestling throughout his career, traveling the world for it. May Ben rest in peace.”
Pac, who also wrestled as Neville in WWE, was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and performed worldwide. He joined AEW in 2019 after six years with WWE. During his AEW career, he won multiple titles, including being the first All-Atlantic champion, two-time World Trios champ, and WWE Cruiserweight champion.
AEW announced his passing on Sunday, and details from emergency service calls were shared by the New York Post. The police confirmed there’s no sign of foul play and the death is not considered suspicious.
