Ibrahima Konate’s next team is probably known after he left Liverpool for free.

It looks like Ibrahima Konate’s next club might have been revealed after he couldn’t agree on a new deal with Liverpool.

Throughout the 2026 season, Liverpool fans have been wondering what’s next for their star defender since his contract ends in June. At the start of the season, Konate was linked with big European clubs like Real Madrid, even though Liverpool had offered him a new contract.

But after a slow start to the season, those rumors cooled down, and it seemed like talks about a new contract with Liverpool were moving forward. In April, the 27-year-old said a deal was close, sharing, “There are many things people have said but for a long time we have spoken with the club and we are close to an agreement. For sure, there is a big chance that I’m here next season. This is what I’ve always wanted.”

So, it was a surprise when reports said Konate won’t be renewing and will be leaving Liverpool soon. This sparked new questions about where he might go next, and it seems we have a possible answer.

The Daily Mail says that, instead of heading to Real Madrid like before, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could be his next stop this summer. PSG already has a strong defense with players like Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, and Illia Zabarnyi, but adding Konate would make their team even stronger. Plus, the defender is said to be keen on making the move.

If Konate joins PSG, he’ll be going back to Paris, where he was born, and getting closer to his family who are big PSG fans. This would come after he represents France at the upcoming World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

Konate was linked with PSG before Euro 2024, and while he said a move would make sense, he was happy at Liverpool at the time, so it didn’t happen. He once shared, “It’s a little logical because I was born in France and Paris. I have six big brothers and all six support PSG I think, at least four or five at least. We watched a lot of games together, they already brought me back to the younger stadium before I went to the training centre.”
