Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is being looked into in a case about underage prostitution.
Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni is reportedly being looked into by Italian police as part of an investigation into child prostitution. Bastoni, 27, is said to be under scrutiny by prosecutors in Milan over a case involving underage prostitution in Italy. He is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.
According to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milan prosecutor’s office is investigating an escort agency called Ma.De escort agency. The report says the agency organizes parties and events for footballers and other VIPs. So far, Bastoni is the only football player believed to be involved in this case.
The documents mention an incident in June 2020 between Bastoni and the girl, who was 17 at that time. Since the age of consent in Italy is 18, Bastoni is expected to be questioned soon. Investigators say they have chat messages from June 2020 as proof of their contact. However, when asked, the girl denied having a relationship with Bastoni.
Other players, including Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori, Daniel Maldini, and Kevin Bonifazi, have been called in as witnesses but are not being investigated themselves. They are only helping with the inquiry.
Bastoni’s lawyer, Salvatore Scuto, told the Italian news agency Agenzia Giornalistica Italia, “My client denies having had any relationship with a girl he knew was underage. The summons for July 3rd is incomplete; we don’t know much about the investigation yet. We will decide whether to respond to the prosecutors.”
At this point, no charges have been made against Bastoni. He has been with Inter Milan since 2017, with loan periods at Atalanta and Parma. Recently, there have been talks about a possible move to Real Madrid to work with new manager Jose Mourinho.
