“It’s really disappointing” – Jamie Carragher strongly criticizes Bruno Fernandes for his surprising post-match interview after the Como loss.

Jamie Carragher didn’t hold back when reacting to Bruno Fernandes’ surprising interview after Manchester United’s tough loss to Como in the Champions League.

Manchester United had a really bad night on Wednesday, losing 4-1 to Serie A team Como, making their season even worse. After the game, captain Bruno Fernandes caught fans off guard by criticizing manager Michael Carrick in a post-match interview. Carragher called Fernandes’ comments a “disgrace” as he broke down what’s going wrong at the club right now.

Right after the final whistle in Como, Fernandes was asked if he still had confidence in the team fixing their problems after the poor game. To Carrick’s disappointment, Fernandes openly criticized the manager and staff, saying they got their pressing tactics wrong.

This isn’t the first time there’s been trouble, as just a week before, defender Lisandro Martinez also criticized the club’s leadership and was fined after apologizing on social media.

Carragher wasn’t happy with Fernandes’ behavior at all. While covering the match for CBS Sports with Kate Scott, Thierry Henry, and Micah Richards, Carragher said: “We said last week Lisandro Martinez was out of line for calling out the bosses, and for Bruno Fernandes to do it too is really disgraceful.”

He went on to explain that Fernandes’ best season last year happened because Carrick put him in the right spot on the field. “He’s a very talented player, but his attitude and the way he acts is not right.”

Carragher also suggested Fernandes acted this way because he was taken off the field, feeling embarrassed. He said Fernandes’ style of pressing actually harms the team, since he seems to be playing more for the fans than for his teammates, running around without real purpose.

Comparing Fernandes to Manchester United’s legend Bryan Robson, Carragher pointed out that Robson earned his greatness by always fighting for the team and never blaming others, even when the team wasn’t winning. But now, key players like Fernandes and Martinez seem quick to blame the club instead of looking at their own performances.

Carragher added: “Seeing Fernandes throw his arms up at teammates all the time is really bad. Calling out the manager when he hasn’t played well himself this season is terrible attitude. That’s not how a Manchester United captain should behave.”

While Carragher did say he agrees Carrick should be let go, he also appreciated that Carrick stood up for himself in the post-match press conference, calling out the players for not running enough.

Overall, Carragher made it clear this situation at Manchester United is tough, and some players need to show better attitude if the club is going to turn things around.
