Jarrod Bowen has signed a rare contract at West Ham, putting an end to all transfer rumors.
After months of transfer talk, Jarrod Bowen has decided to stay at West Ham United by signing a new contract that keeps him at the club through the 2026-27 season.
Bowen, who scored 11 goals in 42 games this season, was linked with moves to clubs like Brentford, Everton, Liverpool, and Aston Villa, especially after West Ham’s relegation to the Championship. But on Friday, The Athletic reported that the 29-year-old agreed to a contract adjustment, staying with the Hammers for the next season.
What does this mean? Bowen hasn’t extended his current seven-year deal, which he signed in 2023 and runs until 2030, but this new agreement confirms he will be with West Ham for the coming campaign.
Bowen’s choice to stay is a big relief for West Ham and their fans, especially after Mateus Fernandes left. Since joining from Hull City in 2020 for about £22 million, Bowen has been one of their best players, scoring 85 goals and providing 63 assists in 280 matches.
Talking about his decision, Bowen said, “My main goal is to stay and help bring this club back to the Premier League where it belongs.” He added, “There will always be rumors, but I wanted to speak when the time was right, especially with everything happening.”
He also shared how meeting with the owners in Prague impressed him. “The ambition they showed for the club’s future really interested me,” he said. “After the Leeds game, I said my vision is to get this club back in the Premier League. Sometimes people doubt that, but I’m serious.”
Looking ahead, West Ham hopes to keep their key players, but Crysencio Summerville might leave this summer with interest from Roma and Manchester United. Other players like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Edson Alvarez, and El Hadji Malick Diouf are also linked with possible moves.
