John Fury talks about his relationship with his son Tyson Fury for the first time since their disagreement.

John Fury, Tyson Fury’s dad, recently shared an update about their relationship.

Before Tyson’s half-brother Tommy fights Eddie Hall in Manchester on Saturday night, John spoke openly about his past issues with Tyson but in a much softer way.

Back in March, John said their relationship had been “completely destroyed” by boxing. He was honest about Tyson’s chances in his comeback, but now he seems more hopeful.

“Yeah, I’m looking forward to it,” John said about seeing Tyson again at Tommy’s fight. “It’s been a long time, and I just want to make things right with my son. None of this should have happened. But we’re both stubborn and strong-headed. Good thing he doesn’t want to hit me — I’d be done for!”

At 61, John doesn’t want any fights with Tyson, and he isn’t holding grudges.

“He’s my boy, and I love him. He’s our star,” John told Boxing King. “Without him, there’d be no me, no Tommy, no nothing. It’s Tyson’s achievements that brought us all here, and I’m forever grateful.”

Though he now respects Tyson’s career, John was more critical before Tyson’s recent comeback against Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

“I don’t need Tyson’s money,” he said then. “But don’t forget who helped make his story when he was a kid — me. I think he’s past his peak. I say it how I see it. People keep telling him he’s invincible, but he’s not. Since the Wilder fights, he’s not been the same. Wilder beat him up.”

Tyson won his fight against Makhmudov by a clear decision and is now preparing to face Anthony Joshua later this year.
