Jose Mourinho shares three firm rules that every Real Madrid player needs to follow.
Jose Mourinho has set three clear rules for all Real Madrid players as he gets ready for a big season back in La Liga.
Right now, Real Madrid isn’t doing as well as their proud history suggests. They’ve gone two seasons without winning any major trophies. To help fix this, the club has brought back Mourinho to steady the ship.
Even with star player Kylian Mbappe, who won the European Golden Boot in 2024-25 and was close last season, Real Madrid hasn’t won the Champions League since 2023. They’ve also lost out on the league title twice to their rivals Barcelona.
This summer, Mourinho has made some smart signings. They brought in Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate for free, and signed Chelsea’s World Cup winner Marc Cucurella for €60 million. They also added Denzel Dumfries for their defense. Although they missed out on Golden Ball winner Rodri, who went to Barcelona, Real Madrid hopes to soon sign African star Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig. Plus, they’ve finally secured Vinicius Junior’s future after rumors linked him to Arsenal.
According to AS, Mourinho’s three new rules focus on discipline and team spirit.
The first rule is about food. Mourinho believes great performance starts in the kitchen, so nutritionists will now decide exactly what players eat every day to boost their game — no more just suggestions or personal choices.
The second rule is about being on time. If a player is late to training, they must spend an extra hour working out alone in the gym. This punishment isn’t about money but about hard work and responsibility.
Finally, for injury recovery, players must only use the club’s facilities at Valdebebas. No outside treatment is allowed, making the process more careful and team-focused.
More than anything, Mourinho wants to create a positive and united team environment, where players work together rather than focus only on themselves.
In his first time managing Real Madrid, Mourinho set many La Liga records — most points in a season, most wins overall, and most away wins. With Cristiano Ronaldo leading the side, they were the first team in Europe’s top leagues to reach 100 points in 2011-12. Other great teams like Tito Vilanova’s Barcelona and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have matched that record since.
Now, Mourinho is ready to bring that winning spirit back to Real Madrid once again!
