Lance Stroll’s salary at Aston Martin has just been revealed, and his spot among F1’s top earners is pretty surprising!
Aston Martin’s recent accounts have revealed the base salary of Canadian Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll.
Stroll has been racing for Aston Martin and its earlier Racing Point team since 2019, and he’ll be staying on until 2027, alongside his teammate Fernando Alonso. According to Planet F1, Stroll’s salary for the 2025 season is $12.2 million. This news caught some attention online, especially since fans pointed out that the team is owned by Stroll’s billionaire dad, Lawrence.
Planet F1 explains, “Golden Eagle Racing Limited received $12.2 million from Aston Martin for 2025. This company is basically Lance Stroll’s personal business, so that amount covers his salary and any staff he might hire.”
It’s likely that Stroll will earn the same or even more in 2026 and 2027. Right now, this pay makes him tied for ninth highest paid driver on the grid this year, according to F1 Salaries.
People often joke that Formula 1 is as much about the car as the driver. Given Stroll’s lower position in the championship and his reported salary, some fans have reacted skeptically to the news that he’ll be racing with Alonso again in 2027. So far this season, Stroll hasn’t finished better than 13th in any race and currently shares the last spot in the standings. The 27-year-old has only completed four races this year and has had to retire from the last four.
In 2025, Stroll finished 16th in the standings with 33 points, matching his reported pay for that year. According to F1 Salaries, he’s one of several drivers who aren’t quite living up to their paychecks in 2026. Alonso, earning the sixth-highest salary after stars like Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, also seems to be underperforming a bit, though it’s worth noting that both are limited somewhat by their cars.
Other drivers like Williams teammates Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon are also struggling to shine. On the other hand, teams like Alpine, Haas, and Red Bull are getting great value for their salaries. For example, Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman earn lower salaries but perform well, and Red Bull’s drivers like Isack Hadjar, Liam Lawson, and Arvid Lindblad continue to impress beyond expectations.
The biggest surprise might be world championship leader Kimi Antonelli. With an estimated salary of only $2 million, which ties him for 17th in pay and is far lower than most top drivers, his performance shows just how much value he brings to the grid.
