The Hungarian Grand Prix is celebrating its 40th birthday, and to mark this special event, it has honored some legendary Formula 1 drivers – including Lewis Hamilton.

This weekend, Hamilton will be trying to close the gap to Kimi Antonelli in the Drivers’ Championship. Right now, Hamilton is 45 points behind the Italian.

At 41 years old, Hamilton wants to score as many points as possible to help him become the most successful driver in F1 history by the end of the season, if he wins the 2026 title.

Hamilton must feel proud to be one of six F1 drivers recognized with a special tribute at the Hungaroring.

The famous track has officially named its 14 corners, and six of them are named after F1 legends like Hamilton, Nelson Piquet, Nigel Mansell, Michael Schumacher, and Ayrton Senna.

Turn 2 is named after Hamilton because he holds the record for most wins (eight) and pole positions (nine) at the Hungaroring.

Turn 1 is named after Piquet, who won the first two races there. Turn 3 is called ‘Spring,’ a nod to the local area known as the Valley of the Three Springs.

Turn 4 is named after Mansell, who won his only F1 world championship here in 1992. Turn 5 is named after Mogyorod, the town near the track.

Turns 6 and 7 are called the Driving Centre, honoring Hungary’s first driver-training facility located at the track.

Turns 8 and 9 are named Buda and Pest, after the two parts of Hungary’s capital city, which is about 20 kilometers from the circuit.

The Danube River, Europe’s second-longest river that flows through nearby Budapest, is also honored.

Turn 11 is now called ‘Alesi,’ after the French F1 driver, while Turn 12 is named after Schumacher, who won his fourth world championship here in 2001.

The last corner, Turn 14, is called Szisz, named after Hungarian-born engineer Ferenc Szisz, who led Renault’s team when they won the very first Grand Prix back in 1906.
