Liverpool fans are sure Adam Wharton’s transfer is happening after noticing his recent social media posts.
Liverpool fans are excited, believing Adam Wharton might be joining Anfield this summer after they noticed his recent Instagram stories. New manager Andoni Iraola has a big challenge ahead, trying to fix things after Arne Slot’s tough second season in charge.
Slot, with help from the amazing efforts of Mohamed Salah before he left, won the 2024-25 Premier League title, stopping Manchester City from winning five times in a row.
Next season, Iraola’s team will have some new players like centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, young La Liga star Victor Munoz, and Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, who joined on loan. Harvey Elliott is back after a tough year at Aston Villa, and Kostas Tsimikas returned from his loan at AS Roma to take on a leadership role again.
So far, Liverpool haven’t made any big signings to try and get back to the top of the Premier League, despite strong links to PSG’s Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye. But the possible signing of Adam Wharton seems more likely now after fans spotted something on his Instagram.
Wharton, a Crystal Palace midfielder, has been linked with a move away for a while. He could follow Michael Olise, who left Palace for Bayern Munich in 2024. Wharton is already a Premier League star and is expected to become one of the world’s best midfielders in a stronger team. Rumors connect him with Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United, so he’s likely staying in England.
Recently, the 22-year-old posted a photo of a vintage Steven Gerrard shirt he won on eBay, calling it “Another grail piece added to the collection.” The shirt is a nod to Liverpool’s famous 2005 Champions League win in Istanbul and is signed by Gerrard. Although it was a paid post with eBay, many Liverpool fans see it as a hint about where Wharton might want to go.
Wharton has played a key role in Palace’s recent success, helping them win the Conference League, Community Shield last season, and the FA Cup the year before.
In the 2025-26 Premier League season, Wharton created 14 big chances, tying with Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai for sixth place. Liverpool finished fifth, just enough for Champions League football, while Palace ended 15th but qualified for the Europa League thanks to their Conference League win.
On the flip side, Liverpool said goodbye to some stars like Salah, full-back Andrew Robertson who moved to Tottenham, and centre-back Ibrahima Konate who joined Real Madrid. They also nearly lost goalkeeper Alisson Becker to Juventus. All left on free transfers. Backup keeper Vitezslav Jaros has returned from loan at Ajax to support Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
