Liverpool gets a big boost for signing Bradley Barcola as talks with PSG keep going
Liverpool have received some good news in their chase for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, with a deal looking more possible before the 2026/27 Premier League season begins.
It’s no secret that Liverpool are interested in Barcola. Earlier this week, reports said the Reds have stepped up their interest in the 23-year-old and are preparing an opening offer.
The France international, who helped his country reach the 2026 World Cup semi-finals, is Liverpool’s main target this summer. They have already welcomed new players Jérémy Jacquet and Víctor Muñoz to Merseyside earlier in the transfer window.
Barcola is reportedly open to moving to Liverpool, though it’s not clear if the Reds are ready to meet PSG’s high price of £145 million. Some reports suggest PSG value the former Lyon player closer to £128 million, which would still break Liverpool’s transfer record if it goes through.
According to The Athletic’s James Pearce, Liverpool plan to offer around £100 million, which is quite a bit less than PSG’s asking price.
There haven’t been many updates on the talks lately, but Liverpool might have gotten a double boost. On July 31, Dutch outlet Voetbal International said PSG are already looking to replace Barcola with Ajax winger Mika Godts. This suggests Barcola’s move to Liverpool could be close.
Godts, a Belgian international, has already talked with PSG’s technical director about a possible move. He’s contracted with Ajax until 2029, and they value him at over £50 million.
Also, it’s not just PSG’s interest in Godts that hints Barcola’s transfer is near. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that PSG have agreed a deal for Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche. He tweeted that the clubs have reached a €50 million agreement and the player is clear on final details, with a medical expected next week and a contract until June 2031.
Akliouche, 24, has impressed at Monaco with 23 goals and 28 assists in 139 games, catching the eye of many clubs across Europe. Romano also clarified that Liverpool were never involved in talks for Akliouche, despite some reports in England.
He said on his YouTube channel, “Maghnes Akliouche is now a Paris Saint-Germain player. In England, many said Liverpool were negotiating for him, but that’s not true. Akliouche wanted to join PSG, and Liverpool were never part of this story.”
So, while Liverpool keep pushing for Barcola, it looks like the French club are planning ahead with new signings of their own.
