Liverpool is getting ready with a list of four players to replace Ibrahima Konate, and it includes a Premier League star.
Liverpool has reportedly put together a shortlist of four players to replace Ibrahima Konaté, who recently moved to Real Madrid. After a busy couple of weeks at Anfield, things are still moving fast, with several players already confirmed to be leaving.
Mohamed Salah’s contract ends this month, as does Andrew Robertson’s, and he has already announced his move to Spurs. Curtis Jones, Federico Chiesa, and young player Rio Ngumoha have all been linked with moves abroad. There’s also talk that Cody Gakpo could be part of a swap deal involving RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.
In other news, Arne Slot was sacked on May 30, and former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is now confirmed as the new manager. Meanwhile, Konaté has confirmed his exit and is expected to join Real Madrid soon.
Konaté’s departure leaves a big gap in Liverpool’s defense. According to Caught Offside, the club has narrowed down a list of four possible replacements. One option could be a left-footed defender like Sporting CP’s Goncalo Inacio, who is 24. Iraola sees him as a perfect fit because of his strong ball skills and tough tackling.
Liverpool are also linked with Sam Beukema, a 27-year-old centre-back from Napoli and the Netherlands. Although he’s not the main target yet, he suits Iraola’s style well and is calm on the ball, offering a different style from the more physical Konaté.
Another player on the list is Luka Vuskovic, a Spurs defender who impressed on loan at Hamburg last season. The Croatian played 30 games, scoring six goals and helping with one assist. He hasn’t yet played for Tottenham’s first team since joining from Hajduk Split last summer.
The last player on the shortlist is Murillo from Nottingham Forest. He’s a strong, left-sided defender with Premier League experience. The 23-year-old Brazilian joined Forest from Corinthians in 2023 and has played 114 games for them since.
Liverpool have also been linked to a few players Iraola worked with at Bournemouth, including Alex Scott, Rayan, Eli Junior Kroupi, and Adrien Truffert. The transfer window opens on June 15, so it will be interesting to see who comes through the door.
