Liverpool starts talks for a surprising second winger after Bradley Barcola in an exciting double deal.
Liverpool are in talks to bring in a second winger to strengthen Andoni Iraola’s squad. So far this summer, they’ve signed Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet but are keen to boost their attack even more.
The Reds are working hard to sign Paris Saint-Germain and France star Bradley Barcola, who is valued at an eye-watering £100 million. But new reports from Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport reveal that Liverpool also want to sign Barcola’s teammate Ibrahim Mbaye in a big double deal.
The 18-year-old winger, who plays on the right side, is excited about joining Liverpool and has given the green light for the move. The two clubs are set to start official talks, with Liverpool hoping to sign both players from the European champions.
Mbaye made his official PSG debut in August 2024 and became the youngest player to win the UEFA Super Cup at just 17 years and 6 months. After playing for France’s youth teams, he switched to Senegal and played in the World Cup, becoming the youngest African scorer in the tournament’s history.
Liverpool really need reinforcements on the wings, especially after Mo Salah left on a free transfer. He’s expected to join Turkish club Trabzonspor soon. The Reds have high hopes for 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha, who impressed last season and even starred for England in a friendly win over New Zealand.
Talks for Barcola are still ongoing, and the two clubs haven’t agreed on the final price yet. Mbaye is believed to be valued at around £35 million by PSG.
Liverpool may have a big transfer window at PSG, with reports also linking them to defender Illia Zabarnyi. Dave Ockop says Liverpool have been in touch with Zabarnyi’s camp, and his representatives are hopeful a deal could happen.
Zabarnyi joined PSG just a year ago in a £57 million move from Bournemouth. The 23-year-old played 37 games last season as PSG won the double, but he might come back to the Premier League sooner than expected. At Liverpool, Zabarnyi would reunite with Iraola, who managed him for one and a half seasons at Bournemouth after signing him from Dynamo Kyiv in January 2023.
