Liverpool told surprise World Cup star is ‘excited’ about joining the club and it shifts their plans

One of the most exciting players at the World Cup might soon be heading to Anfield, and he’s said to be really excited about the idea. While football fans around the world are caught up in the thrills of the 2026 World Cup, clubs are already getting ready for next season.

The transfer window for many of Europe’s top leagues is still closed, but for Premier League teams, it officially opens on June 15. Since then, several English clubs have been busy working on new signings to boost their squads for the 2026/27 season. Big names like Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City are all active, but no one has been as busy so far as Liverpool.

Liverpool has already signed one star player and is reportedly working on deals for a few more. Osasuna forward Víctor Muñoz became their first signing under new manager Andoni Iraola after Liverpool swooped in and paid €40 million (£34.5m) to trigger his release clause, beating Newcastle United to the young winger.

They’ve also been linked with RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, though their first €100 million offer was turned down. It’s expected Liverpool will try again, but a recent report suggests they might also look elsewhere. French winger Bradley Barcola from PSG is said to be keen on a move to Anfield.

According to French outlet Le10Sport, Barcola is excited about the chance to join Liverpool. The 23-year-old likes what the club is building and is interested in playing in the Premier League. Even though he’s already won Ligue 1 three times and the Champions League twice with PSG before turning 24, Barcola is thinking about leaving.

Journalist Graeme Bailey says Barcola has made up his mind and told PSG he wants to move this summer. The main reason is that he feels he’s fallen out of favor with PSG manager Luis Enrique, who prefers a front three of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and Ousmane Dembele for important games.

The report also points out that PSG’s recent Champions League run was a big moment for Barcola—he was disappointed not to start in the semifinals or final, which pushed him toward deciding to leave.

If Liverpool believes Barcola is available, it’s almost certain they will make a move soon, which could pause their effort to sign Diomande. That said, since Liverpool is ready to spend big this summer, it’s possible they could sign Muñoz, Diomande, and Barcola as part of a major attacking refresh.
