Man City faces a big setback after Pep Guardiola leaves, as a key player now wants to move on too.
Manchester City might lose more important players after their manager, Pep Guardiola, announced he’s leaving the club. This comes right after their 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on the last day of the Premier League season.
Guardiola, a true City legend, spent 10 years with the team and helped them win 17 big trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League win. Now that the 55-year-old boss is stepping down, there are lots of rumors about some of the club’s key players possibly leaving this summer.
The transfer window opens on Monday, June 15, so City still has some time to persuade their stars to stay, especially after naming their next manager. But it might be tough to keep everyone, as Ruben Dias has reportedly told his agent to look for new clubs.
According to Caught Offside, big teams like Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid are already showing interest in Dias. He joined City in 2020 and signed a new deal until 2029, but now his future is uncertain. Dias has played 255 games for City and is a crucial defender, currently valued at around €60 million (£52 million).
Among the clubs chasing him, Real Madrid looks like the most likely to make a strong offer. They need new center backs to replace David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger, and Dias could be the perfect fit. Plus, Real Madrid is also interested in other City stars like Rodri and Josko Gvardiol.
City wants to keep Rodri and has even offered him a new contract, but the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner wants to return to Spain. The move might be tricky, though, since Real Madrid is hesitant to pay the transfer fee because Rodri has struggled with injuries, including a serious knee injury that limited him to just 26 starts this season.
