Man City fans quickly share their thoughts on Enzo Fernandez after his first game against Coventry
Manchester City fans have been buzzing after Enzo Fernandez made his club debut in their 1-0 win over Coventry City.
After a wild transfer saga this summer, Fernandez joined City from Chelsea in the final hours of Deadline Day for a huge £125 million, tying a record fee. Fans were excited to see him play, especially since he had to step in last minute when Nico O’Reilly got injured during warm-up. And they weren’t disappointed!
Despite some early pressure after his first interview as a City player, Fernandez didn’t score, but he definitely made an impact. The Argentine midfielder helped set up Erling Haaland’s winning goal with a neat pass to Antoine Semenyo, who then crossed for Haaland to head in. Later, Fernandez almost assisted Haaland again with a clever no-look pass, though it was ruled offside.
He played 76 minutes before fellow new signing Ayyoub Bouaddi came on. City journalist Sam Lee called it “a solid debut,” saying it was more a tidy performance than a fiery one. Fans agreed — many felt Fernandez looked like he had already gelled with the team, key to Haaland’s goal. Even a Real Madrid fan couldn’t help but praise his amazing assist!
In his debut, Fernandez had two shots, two clearances, and completed 70 passes with 92.9% accuracy.
Fernandez wasn’t the only new face shining. Iliman Ndiaye, who joined from Everton for about £60 million plus add-ons, also made his first appearance. The Senegal winger impressed many fans with his smart play, though some pointed out he needs to work on his final passes and physicality.
All in all, City’s new signings showed plenty of promise on their debuts, giving fans lots to be excited about for the season ahead.
