Man United fans believe a ‘special’ player is all set to shine next season
Manchester United fans are getting excited about one of their young stars, who looks ready to shine next season after a great show against Atletico Madrid.
In their latest pre-season game, United won 2-1 against Atletico Madrid, with Bryan Mbeumo scoring both goals after going behind in the first half. But the buzz among fans was really about 19-year-old Shea Lacey. He made his debut last December in a loss to Aston Villa and only played a few times last season. Now, it feels like he’s ready for more game time.
Lacey, who plays for England’s Under-20 team, has been looking sharp in pre-season. Against Atletico, he started on the right wing, cutting inside on his left foot, then moved to a central spot in the second half, where he won the penalty that helped United level the score. He showed great skill, quickly finding space and drawing a foul with a clever move. His ball control and left foot are really impressive.
Stats from Statman Dave show Lacey had 30 touches, 100% accurate crosses, seven ball recoveries, four passes into key areas, and two successful take-ons in the match. After seeing him play, fans believe he’s going to be important for United soon.
One fan on X said, “Shea Lacey won a penalty against Atletico Madrid. I think he’s ready, lads.” Another called him a “special player” and a “rising star to watch.” Others agreed he’s a “baller” who’ll surely get some first-team minutes this season. Many think he’s got something truly special and that United should give him more chances.
The club has also been busy signing players like Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, who also impressed against Atletico. But United still want to give their best young talents a shot, and Lacey seems to be top of the list, according to BBC’s Simon Stone.
Lacey has been training regularly with the first team and even scored the first goal in a 5-0 pre-season win over Rosenborg. He’s not expected to be loaned out, along with Jack Fletcher, son of United legend Darren Fletcher, both pushing for first-team action.
With United back in European football next season, Lacey could be a handy option when key players like Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount need rest. He might also offer a fresh option on the right wing, alongside Mbeumo and Amad Diallo.
United’s next game is on Saturday against European champions Paris Saint-Germain, and fans will be watching closely to see if Lacey gets more chances to show his talent.
