Man United is trying to make a last-minute signing on deadline day, but time might be tight.
Manchester United are ready to keep pushing right up until the transfer deadline to sign a talented midfielder. With just a few hours left before the Premier League deadline, teams across England’s top division are working hard to finalise deals before the first half of the 2026/27 season starts.
Lots of signings have already gone through, including Manchester City smashing the Premier League record by spending £125 million on Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez.
But Manchester United have been pretty quiet at the end of the window, bringing in only four new players this summer. Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and Carlos Baleba joined for a total of £155 million as manager Michael Carrick reshapes the midfield, plus goalkeeper Karl Darlow arrived on a free transfer.
It looks like United want one more midfielder, though. Reports say they are working on a last-minute deal for Leicester City’s Louis Page. The 18-year-old made his first-team debut in August 2025 and has played 25 times so far. United think highly of him and are trying hard to get the deal done before the 11 pm deadline.
If the deal goes through, it will probably cost more than £10 million. But Sky Sports says there’s still a lot to sort out, so the move might be pushed back until January. Things are trickier because there’s talk that Page could be loaned back to Leicester before joining United next summer.
Page is even starting for Leicester in their League One game against Plymouth Argyle on Deadline Day, which makes it seem less likely the deal will happen before 11 pm.
Fans haven’t been too thrilled about the quiet window at Old Trafford so far. Many expected a new left-back to join, even though Luke Shaw was dependable last season. United have been linked to Newcastle’s Lewis Hall, but nothing’s happened yet.
There are rumours that United might try loan signings to fix this, with Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde a possible option after being an unused sub in their recent game. On the other hand, young full-back Harry Amass might leave on loan, which could leave the defence a bit thin.
Striker Joshua Zirkzee could also be on his way out, with Serie A clubs Fiorentina and Juventus interested. However, since Everton’s Beto is joining Fiorentina and Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade is about to have a medical at Juventus, Zirkzee’s future is still unclear.
All in all, it’s been a slow finish for Manchester United’s summer transfer window, and fans are hoping for some last-minute surprises.
