Man Utd fans have already formed their opinions about Andrey Santos after the Rosenborg friendly match.
Manchester United fans have shared their thoughts on new signing Andrey Santos after the team’s 5-0 preseason win over Rosenborg.
On Friday evening, Manchester United continued their preseason in Norway, with Michael Carrick’s squad facing Rosenborg.
In their first game, the Red Devils surprisingly lost to Wrexham, thanks to a goal from midfielder Lewis O’Brien. But they quickly bounced back in their second match, dominating Rosenborg 5-0, with goals from Shea Lacey, Joshua Zirkzee, Jacob Devaney, Harry Amass, and Ethan Williams.
The game gave fans a chance to see many exciting young players, including four of the goal scorers, who all impressed. It also offered a good look at new signing Andrey Santos, who joined from Premier League rivals Chelsea earlier in the transfer window.
Santos, who signed a deal until June 2031 for £48 million, made his first appearance against Wrexham and started again against Rosenborg. Despite some fans being unsure about his signing, the 22-year-old has shown great promise so far.
On social media, one fan wrote, “Andrey Santos is going to be a problem next season… just look at those passes.” Another added, “We finally have our midfield engine in him. I already love him.” And another said, “Santos was everywhere in that first half—always available, breaking lines, moving the ball forward, covering every inch of the pitch. Another exciting performance. United might have found something special here.”
While we’ll have to wait and see how Santos performs against Premier League teams, his strong showing against a mid-season side is a good confidence boost for both him and the fans.
Santos is the first of several midfield signings expected at Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes in August. Just days after announcing Santos, United signed Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa by triggering his £35 million release clause.
But the club isn’t done yet. At least one more big midfield signing is thought to be in the works. In recent weeks, several big names have been linked with moves to Old Trafford, including Manu Kone, Carlos Baleba, and Alex Scott.
Currently, Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni is considered a top target. The 26-year-old midfielder is reportedly open to a move, despite earlier reports he extended his contract with Real until 2028. However, the club hasn’t officially announced the extension and might let Tchouameni leave this summer if they can sign Rodri, another long-term target for United.
If that happens, United will likely make a big offer for the Real Madrid star, who would probably cost over £100 million given his talent.
