Man Utd fans upset after finding out how little INEOS is asking for one of their top academy players
Manchester United fans are pretty upset after hearing the price the club wants for one of their most promising young players.
This summer, United signed stars like Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans to strengthen the squad after Casemiro left and Manuel Ugarte got a serious knee injury. More new players are on the way, but some might be leaving too – including 19-year-old left-back Harry Amass.
United beat Chelsea to sign Amass in 2023, and he made his first-team debut against Leicester in March 2025. Although he’s only played seven games for United, he impressed last season while on loan in the Championship. He won Player of the Month twice at Sheffield Wednesday, playing 21 games before moving on loan to Norwich City. Unfortunately, an early injury limited him to just one appearance there.
Amass is back at United for pre-season and even scored in a 5-0 win over Rosenborg. But according to The Athletic, he might leave this transfer window. Several Championship clubs are interested, and United would prefer to sell him permanently rather than send him on loan. They’re asking around £6 million.
This news didn’t go down well with fans on social media, many of whom think £6 million is way too low. One wrote, “We need to take lessons from Chelsea.” Another said, “I’m not even a big fan of Amass, but £6 million is a joke. Might as well keep him and loan him out to increase his value.” A third added, “Harry Amass leaving for £6 million shows we’re not ready for the big league.”
Amass isn’t the only player linked with a move. Striker Joshua Zirkzee has caught the eye of Juventus and Ajax, who have both asked about him. Two Premier League clubs are also interested, and United might sell him. Zirkzee joined from Bologna in 2024 but has struggled to make an impact and didn’t get much playing time last season.
United are also planning to part ways with goalkeepers Altay Bayandir and Radek Vitek. Vitek has said he wants regular first-team football. To cover this, the club signed Karl Darlow for free from Leeds to support Senne Lammens and also brought in 20-year-old goalkeeper Kit Margetson from Swansea for a compensation fee.
Margetson had been with Swansea since he was a youngster and played his first senior games last season on loan at Connah’s Quay Nomads, keeping 10 clean sheets in 34 matches and helping the team qualify for European football. He also has youth international experience with Wales. Manchester United officially welcomed Kit on their website, wishing him all the best for the future.
