Man Utd is about to sign a deal that’s the biggest ever of its kind in a historic moment.

Manchester United is getting ready to sign a big new commercial deal that could be one of the biggest in football. Over their nearly 150-year history, the club has enjoyed huge success both on the field and off it, winning trophies and landing major sponsorship deals.

In total, Manchester United has won 68 major trophies and brings in over £500 million in revenue each year. While winning games definitely helps, a big part of this money comes from official sponsors who support the club.

Now, it looks like Manchester United is close to finalizing a big new deal with Betway, a British gambling company, to sponsor the team’s training kit starting next season. According to The Athletic, the multi-year agreement will have Betway’s logo on all training gear worn at the club’s Carrington training ground. The club will also share lots of photos of players wearing the new kits.

This deal is thought to be worth more than £18 million, making it one of the most valuable training kit sponsorships in football. The talks with Betway came after more than a year of discussions with different brands, with Betway offering the best mix of money and brand fit.

Betway will take over from Tezos, a blockchain company that sponsored the training kit for three years until June last year. The Tezos deal brought in about £24 million a year, but the new Betway deal is seen as a good value given the current market.

Betway already sponsors several Premier League clubs, including West Ham United’s matchday shirts, and has deals with Manchester City, Arsenal, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

This new sponsorship comes after Premier League clubs voted in April 2023 to ban gambling company logos on the front of matchday shirts, starting with the 2026/27 season. This season, 11 of the 20 Premier League teams still have gambling or casino companies on their matchday shirts.

Even with the upcoming ban, gambling sponsors remain a big part of football, with several clubs believed to be looking at similar deals to put sponsors on their training kits instead.
