Man Utd is trying to sign ‘one of the brightest talents’ and is in talks, even though Arsenal is also very interested.
Manchester United are reportedly working on a deal to sign Leicester City midfielder Louis Page. According to BBC Sport, talks are still ongoing for the 18-year-old, who is seen as one of the most exciting young talents outside the Premier League.
Page is already an England Under-20 international and has played 21 times for Leicester’s first team. Last season, he made five starts for the Foxes as they were relegated from the Championship. He also started in their recent Carabao Cup win over Northampton Town.
Last season, Page was named EFL Apprentice of the Year and is attracting plenty of interest this summer. Reports say both Arsenal and Aston Villa want him, but it’s United who are closest to signing him.
Page signed a pro contract with Leicester in September 2025, so Manchester United will need to agree a transfer fee rather than a compensation deal. This isn’t expected to be a problem, as Leicester, now in League One, are ready to sell one of their key young players this summer.
Leicester have already sold teenage star Jeremy Monga to Manchester City for an initial £10 million, plus add-ons.
Despite their recent struggles, Leicester have a great record of developing young stars like Page and Monga. When Page signed his first professional contract, the club called him one of the brightest talents in their system.
Page joined Leicester as a kid, playing from under-9s, and made his senior debut in the Carabao Cup against Huddersfield Town a year ago. He was also part of Leicester’s Under-16 team that won the Premier League Cup in 2024 and was named one of the best young players in The Guardian’s Next Generation 2024 list.
He represented England at the U17 World Cup last year, starting in matches against Venezuela and South Korea, and coming off the bench when England lost to Austria in the last 16.
United’s interest in Page fits with their bigger plan to sign top young talent early, hoping to save money in the future. They have already signed Tottenham winger Tynan Thompson this summer for an initial £4 million, with up to £4 million more in bonuses.
