Man Utd ready to swoop in on Arsenal and Bayern’s chase for one of Europe’s best as transfer list takes shape
Manchester United might be about to spoil both Arsenal and Bayern Munich’s chances of signing a top Bundesliga talent this summer.
Now that Michael Carrick is officially confirmed as United’s head coach for next season, he and the club’s leadership are already thinking about new signings.
The 20-time Premier League winners are looking to strengthen several areas, including left-back, central midfield, centre-back, and striker.
They’ve already agreed a deal for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, signing him for four years after agreeing on a £35 million fee with Atalanta.
United are also reportedly interested in Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.
But who else is on their radar?
According to TEAMtalk, United have talked about Newcastle’s left-back Lewis Hall, who is valued at around £50 million by the Magpies. Other options include Barcelona’s full-back Alejandro Balde and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathan Brown, with Bayern and Arsenal also after the Germany international.
Brown, under contract until 2030, has impressed in 75 games for Frankfurt, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists. He’s earned four senior caps and was picked for Julian Nagelsmann’s World Cup squad.
At 22, Brown is a flexible player who can play both as a traditional left-back and further up the left side. Last season, he won more tackles than anyone else in the Bundesliga with 81.
Nagelsmann has praised him, calling Brown “one of the most talented left-backs around.” Frankfurt reportedly values him between £50 million and £60 million.
If Brown joins United, he would compete with Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu for a spot in Carrick’s starting lineup.
United’s chief executive Omar Berrada said last summer’s smart signings would guide their approach in this transfer window. Last season’s additions—Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Senne Lammens—turned out well.
“You never know how a transfer window will go, but you have to be ready,” Berrada told the club media. “You need a clear plan, know which positions to strengthen, and be ready for surprises—like unexpected exits or new chances on the market.
“We have to stay flexible and quick, but the plan is clear. Jason Wilcox and his team are well set to carry it out.
“I think last season showed the way forward: a mix of experience and youth. Players who’ve proven themselves in the Premier League and those doing well elsewhere.
“But we always make decisions with both short-term and long-term goals in mind.”
