NBA Fan Breaks Minute of Silence to Cheer Renee Nicole Good with a Three-Word Chant
During the Minnesota Timberwolves’ recent game, a moment of silence for Renee Nicole Good was interrupted by a fan shouting a political message.
Renee Good, 37, was sadly shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Wednesday. After the incident, President Donald Trump said the ICE agent acted in self-defense and blamed the ‘radical left’ for her death.
Since then, many people across the country and beyond have expressed their sympathy. The local NBA team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, decided to hold a moment of silence for Renee during their game.
But just seconds into the silence, one fan loudly shouted, “Go home ICE!” The crowd quickly joined in, showing support with cheers and other comments, sending a strong message to the agents in the city.
Before the game between the Timberwolves and the Cleveland Cavaliers, a message was shared at the Target Center in Minneapolis, asking for healing and unity after this tragedy. Players from both teams stood together at midcourt in respect.
Timberwolves coach Chris Finch spoke before the game, saying, “Our community has been through another heartbreaking tragedy. We want to send our condolences and keep all those affected in our thoughts and prayers.”
Starting on January 5, thousands of ICE agents were sent to Minneapolis in what was called the “largest DHS operation ever.” Their mission was to arrest dangerous criminals, after a right-wing online influencer accused Somali-run childcare centers in Minnesota of welfare fraud. Following these claims, the FBI began investigations, and the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families confirmed that all the childcare centers were following the rules and operating normally.
