Netflix censors Brock Lesnar’s t-shirt even though WWE lets him wear it
Netflix has made some changes to the t-shirt Brock Lesnar wore during Monday Night RAW earlier this week.
The 49-year-old came out wearing a black vest with the phrase “Talk sh*t, get hit” printed on it. On the live show, the curse word was already toned down with a star replacing the letter ‘i,’ but for the replay, the whole word was taken out. Instead, viewers watching later saw the vest say “Talk, get hit” with a black bar covering the second word. Netflix also used different camera angles to avoid showing Lesnar too much, replacing many shots of him reacting with shots of Oba Femi during his promo.
Lesnar’s shirt wasn’t the only thing censored. Fans noticed that Netflix blurred Bron Breakker’s head after he started bleeding in his steel cage match with Seth Rollins. This was the second week in a row Netflix blurred blood on their RAW replays, also covering bleeding from Gunther’s backstage attack on Cody Rhodes last week. These injuries were visible during the live broadcast but hidden in the on-demand version.
Netflix also edited some audio during the WWE Night of Champions replay. Chants of “Holy sh*t” were replaced with “This is Awesome.” Many thought Netflix showing WWE RAW would mean more graphic content, but it seems they’re actually keeping things cleaner, likely to make it easier for more people to watch.
At Wrestlemania 42 in April, Lesnar lost to Femi and seemed to go off-script, which fans thought meant he was retiring. He laid down in the ring, surprising the commentators and his long-time manager, Heyman. Lesnar then made an “X” sign, usually used to signal real injuries, but he surprised everyone by coming back in May. The former UFC star attacked Femi during his entrance and hit him with four F5s, making a strong statement against retirement rumors.
Fans think this quick return might lead to Lesnar’s real retirement match at WWE Summerslam next month, in his hometown of Minnesota. He’s set to face Femi inside Hell in a Cell for an exciting showdown.
