NFL star is set to retire at 27, less than a year after signing a $43 million deal.

One NFL star has surprised fans by deciding to retire at just 27 years old, less than a year after signing a new contract.
The NFL season ended last month with the Seattle Seahawks beating the New England Patriots 29-13 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Before that win, the Seahawks had knocked out teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Rams.
On the other side, the Patriots made their way to Super Bowl LX by winning against the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, and Denver Broncos.
Recently, it was shared that Chicago Bears star Drew Dalman has chosen to step away from football at only 27.
In the 2025 off-season, Dalman signed a new three-year deal with the Bears worth about $42 million. He also played an important role in helping the team get back on track, although their run ended in the Divisional Round against the Rams.
Dalman started all 17 games for the Bears and was one of the top players in blocking stats among interior offensive linemen.
According to ESPN, Dalman has officially told the Bears he’s retiring after five seasons in the NFL.
Looking ahead, the Bears might find a replacement from their own team, free agency, trades, or the draft. Dalman’s timing is said to be good, as the free agent period starts March 11, and the 2026 Draft begins in late April.
Reacting to the news, teammate Caleb Williams posted on social media, “Hulk…” with a crying emoji.
Besides finding someone to replace Dalman, the Bears also need to fill the spot of Ozzy Trapilo, who got a serious knee injury during the playoffs.
