Pep Guardiola to show his support for Man City with a public display after meeting with club leaders
Pep Guardiola is planning to come back to the Etihad Stadium on October 14 to show support for his old club, Manchester City, amid their ongoing fight with the Premier League.
On September 29, it was announced that Manchester City was found guilty of serious financial rule breaches by an independent panel. The panel said that between 2009-10 and 2017-18, the club made “fake” contracts to boost their reported income by £830 million.
City has already said they will appeal the decision. The Premier League stated that the appeal process will stay private until the results can be shared. Usually, appeals take about 12 weeks to finish, with a decision coming 30 days later, but this can change if needed.
Not long after City said they would appeal, news came out that Guardiola wants to make a surprise return to the Etihad as a sign of support for the club. According to The Express, the 55-year-old, who left as City’s manager at the end of the 2025-26 season, told club leaders he wants to “be with his people.”
The game he plans to attend is City’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain on October 14.
Earlier this week, Guardiola shared a message encouraging everyone at Manchester City — players, staff, fans, and owners — after the club was found guilty.
He said, “I want every single Manchester City fan around the world to know I’m here, now more than ever. I’ve always been, and always will be, behind my club, the owner, the chairman, Ferran, the players, the staff, Enzo [Maresca], and you, our amazing supporters. Let me be clear: we’ll get through this together. I love you all.”
