Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s newest goal for Deportivo is getting everyone excited as he ties an amazing record!
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made a fantastic start at his new club, Deportivo La Coruna, by scoring an amazing goal in their 3-2 win against Villarreal — and it surprised everyone.
Now 37, Aubameyang returned to Spanish football in June after leaving Marseille to join the newly promoted Deportivo. He had a brief but successful time at Barcelona in 2022, scoring 13 goals in 23 games before moving to Chelsea.
The Gabonese striker has picked up right where he left off, scoring four goals in four matches thanks to his hat-trick against Villarreal. He began by helping teammate Cruz Luismi equalize at 1-1 after Villarreal’s Nicolas Pepe put them ahead.
Villarreal took the lead again after an unlucky own goal by Adama Traore, who had come on as a substitute. But Aubameyang changed the game in just nine minutes. First, in the 79th minute, he assisted Zakaria Eddahchouri to tie the score 2-2. Then, he scored the winning goal by chasing down a bad pass in the midfield, running nearly half the pitch, and calmly shooting past goalkeeper Luiz Junior into the bottom left corner.
The way he scored showed a lot. Aubameyang started his run just inside the opponent’s half and quickly outran Villarreal’s right-back, Alex Freeman, who couldn’t catch him. Last year, Aubameyang admitted moving to Chelsea in 2022 was a ‘huge mistake,’ even though he initially thought it would work out. He scored just three goals in 21 games and stayed only one season at Stamford Bridge.
On a podcast hosted by former Arsenal Fan TV member Troopz, he said, “It was a huge mistake to go to Chelsea. I was having a rough time at Barca. My house had been robbed, and Barca needed to sell either me or Memphis Depay. The only offer was from Chelsea. I took it for my family, even if it was Chelsea. I thought it would go well. Olivier Giroud moved from Arsenal to Chelsea and did fine, but for me, it was different.”
