Real Madrid quickly agree to Jose Mourinho’s transfer request before the deadline runs out
Real Madrid is ready to meet Jose Mourinho’s transfer wish by bringing back a former player for a very low cost. Mourinho is gearing up for his second time coaching Los Blancos after agreeing to leave Benfica and take over from Alvaro Arbeloa.
The two-time Champions League winner has signed a contract until 2029 and will return once Real’s presidential elections happen on June 7. Long-time president Florentino Perez, who really wants Mourinho back, is running against renewable energy entrepreneur Enrique Riquelme.
If Perez wins, Mourinho’s comeback will be official. He’s already set some key conditions and seems to be involved in transfer plans.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Mourinho asked for the exciting young talent Nico Paz to join the team again, and it looks like that will happen. Paz first joined Real’s academy from CD Tenerife and played eight times during the 2023/24 season. He then moved to Serie A’s Como, where he has grown so much that Real believes he’s ready for the first team.
Paz scored 13 goals in 40 games, helping Cesc Fabregas’s Como make history by qualifying for the Champions League in the 2025/26 season. AS says the Argentina international has become a “game-changer” for Como and has already known for a few weeks that his future is with Real. He’s ready for the challenge ahead.
Real has a buy-back clause to bring Paz back for around €9 million, but they have to act before June 30. At that time, Paz will likely still be playing in the World Cup knockout stage with Argentina, since he’s been named in coach Lionel Scaloni’s squad. If Real waits until next summer, they’ll have to pay €10 million. If they chose not to buy him back, they would still get 50% of any future transfer fee.
It’s not just Paz who might return. MARCA, via TMW, says Real could also bring back center-back Jacob Ramon, who joined Como last summer for €2.5 million. Like Paz, Real has the option to recall him for a smaller fee in the next few years, plus a sell-on clause.
