This isn’t new for Madrid. Back in 2013, club greats like Alfredo Di Stéfano and Sergio Ramos all publicly supported Cristiano Ronaldo for the same award. Ronaldo went on to win, beating strong players from Bayern Munich. Madrid hopes that backing Mbappé will help him beat Kane and Yamal this time.
