Red Bull makes a statement after Isack Hadjar is disqualified from the Miami Grand Prix
Red Bull has shared an update after Isack Hadjar lost his ninth-place qualifying spot due to a disqualification at the Miami Grand Prix. Hadjar did a great job in qualifying, but after a routine check, the team found a small issue with the car’s floor. It turns out that parts of Hadjar’s RB22 were sticking out 2mm beyond the allowed limits.
Because of this, Red Bull confirmed that Hadjar was disqualified from qualifying and will start the race from the back of the grid. On X, @redbullracing said, “Isack will start today’s race from the back because a small part of his car’s floorboard was found outside the rules.”
Team principal Laurent Mekies also spoke about the situation, accepting the decision and apologizing to Hadjar for the mistake. He said, “We made a mistake and respect the Stewards’ decision. There was no intention to gain an advantage. We’ll learn from this and improve our processes to prevent it from happening again. We’re sorry to Isack, our fans, and partners. Although it’s a tough lesson, we’re focused on turning yesterday’s good performance into a strong race today.”
