Referee stops AEW match after wrestler gets knocked out in a scary moment
During AEW’s All Out pay-per-view in Chicago, the match was stopped right away after wrestler Steven Borden Jr was knocked out cold in a scary moment. The event had 12 matches, but everyone is talking about the one with Borden and his partner Darby Allin versus Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher.
This tag team match was to decide the No.1 contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championship and went on for 12 minutes. But the ending was sudden when Borden got hurt badly during a move with Knight. Both jumped from the top ropes and landed hard in a dangerous clash before hitting the mat.
The move was risky, and Borden hit his head hard. Replays showed Knight’s hand hit Borden by mistake when their timing was off. Referee Bryce Remsburg was worried and checked on Borden right away. A doctor quickly rushed in, and the ref stopped the match early. Knight and Fletcher’s team, ProtoJet, won because of this.
Borden was taken out on a stretcher and went to the hospital. Commentator Tony Schiavone shared some good news, saying Borden was awake, talking, and responding after a CT scan. AEW president Tony Khan later said the test results were good, and he hoped Borden could fly home the next day.
Borden comes from wrestling royalty—he’s the son of Sting, a legendary wrestler who fought in major promotions like WCW, TNA, WWE, and AEW. While Sting is retired, his son is carrying on the tradition.
Trained by Allen and Nick Dinsmore, Borden had a few appearances on AEW TV before officially wrestling in October 2025. His first big pay-per-view match was this weekend. So far, Borden hasn’t spoken about his condition after the injury.
