Rio Ferdinand criticizes Jamie Carragher’s career as their argument gets heated

Rio Ferdinand fired back in a sharp but honest way after his feud with Jamie Carragher flared up again just before Manchester United’s 3–2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Before the game, Ferdinand shared a photo from his United days, showing him celebrating a goal against Liverpool. Carragher was in the shot too, looking pretty disappointed as Ferdinand shouted towards him. Ferdinand wrote, “Caption this.”

Carragher replied: “Have some of that, bruv, you Scouse ****, probably… Not like you to make sure you were in the picture of someone else’s goal. Now you hang around mixed zones, bothering the star players and getting your friends to film it!”

Over the years, the two former defenders’ relationship has cooled off, with plenty of back-and-forth even though they used to be England teammates.

Later on Sunday, Ferdinand answered Carragher’s tweet, calling his response “harsh” and taking a dig at his playing days. He said: “Did anyone see what he wrote back? I thought it was really harsh. I just shared a picture of us celebrating a goal. That’s what these games are about.

“I’ve scored a few goals against Liverpool, but I didn’t post one of my goals. I just love celebrating, and he really went after me. I don’t get why. I don’t know what upset him so much.

“He lost it and got really annoyed. We used to be teammates with England. He even carried my wash bag many times—I’ve said it before. Sometimes he even carried my boots when he didn’t get changed quickly. He was always there.

“I thought we got along well. I’ve known him since we were kids. He must be even more upset now—they just lost. These games bring strong emotions and change how people react. I’ve felt it when Liverpool lost before—it’s not a nice feeling. But today, Man United got the result.”

Liverpool will play Chelsea at home on May 9, while United will travel to face Sunderland on the same day.
