Roberto De Zerbi is interested in a £60m Chelsea player who has already praised Spurs fans as ‘amazing’
Tottenham are looking to sign a Chelsea player who once called their fans “amazing.” This transfer window has been a busy one for Spurs, as Roberto De Zerbi builds a team that can compete in Europe.
So far, Tottenham have spent nearly £250 million on new players. They broke their transfer record twice—first signing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham for £85 million, then smashing it again by paying £100 million for Sandro Tonali from Newcastle.
They’ve also strengthened their defense with free signings like Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, plus Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton. Now, De Zerbi is focusing on boosting the attack before the September 1 deadline, wanting more firepower in the final third.
Last season, only seven Premier League clubs scored fewer goals than Spurs’ 48, so they’re working hard to change that. Reports say Spurs have made offers totaling £145 million for Savinho and Cody Gakpo from Manchester City and Liverpool, hoping to improve their wide options.
But De Zerbi also wants a striker to challenge Dominic Solanke and Richarlison, and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson is one player they’re tracking. According to RMC Sport, Tottenham, Aston Villa, and Atletico Madrid are all interested in Jackson, who isn’t a key player under Chelsea’s new manager Xabi Alonso.
Jackson, a Senegal international, came back to Chelsea after a decent loan at Bayern Munich, where he scored 11 goals in 34 games mostly as backup to Harry Kane. But Alonso hasn’t included him in recent squads, which makes a move away likely.
Jackson has 30 goals in 81 appearances for Chelsea, but Chelsea want around £60 million for him—an asking price that’s causing some hesitation among interested clubs. He’s under contract until 2033, so Chelsea don’t have to rush to sell. Still, Jackson wants regular game time, which seems unlikely with other forwards ahead of him.
Spurs would be keen to have him, especially since Jackson has performed well against them before, scoring a hat-trick in Chelsea’s 4-1 win in November 2023. After that game, Jackson praised Tottenham’s fans, calling them “amazing,” which caused a stir among Chelsea supporters.
If he makes the move across London to Spurs this summer, he’ll get to enjoy that “amazing” support every week.
