Spurs star put up for transfer by Roberto De Zerbi on the first weekend of the Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur have put midfielder Pape Matar Sarr on the transfer list just before their Premier League game against Brentford, according to reports. It looks like Sarr’s future in London is pretty much decided, as the club has told him he’s available to be sold.
The 23-year-old midfielder played 26 Premier League games for Spurs, starting 13 of them, and spent 1,399 minutes on the pitch, averaging 54 minutes per match. During that time, he scored two goals and made four assists, creating three big chances and performing better than expected based on his expected goals (xG) stats.
Defensively, Sarr averaged 0.7 interceptions, 1.3 tackles, 0.2 possessions won, and three ball recoveries per game. He also won 3.3 duels per match but only had a 46% success rate, which is a bit disappointing compared to his stronger attacking skills.
This summer, Spurs are having an active transfer window as they aim to improve after a tough fight against relegation last season. According to Sacha Tavolieri, Galatasaray are in talks to bring Sarr to their team. The Turkish champions are chasing a fifth straight league title but face strong challenges from rivals like Fenerbahce, Besiktas, and Trabzonspor. Signing Sarr would be a good move for Galatasaray, although his future beyond Spurs is still not clear.
Sarr joined Tottenham back in summer 2021 for just under £15 million. He stayed on loan at his previous club, FC Metz in France’s Ligue 1, for another season before moving to the Premier League in mid-2022. So far, he has played 120 times for Spurs, scoring 11 goals and making 13 assists.
Sarr was also at the center of a tense moment during the 2026 World Cup when Senegal lost to Belgium. Senegal had a 2-0 lead late in the game, but Belgium came back to win 3-2 after extra time. Sarr missed a key free-kick in the 132nd minute, just after Belgium scored a penalty in the 125th minute. This heartbreaking loss knocked Senegal out of the tournament in the Round of 32.
