Steve Kerr Opens Up About the ‘Shameful’ US Government After Renee Nicole Good’s Death
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr has spoken out about the American government after the sad death of Renee Nicole Good.
Before their NBA game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Minnesota Timberwolves held a moment of silence to honor Good, who was 37 years old. She was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis earlier this week.
During the quiet moment, fans shared their feelings by cheering and supporting someone who shouted for ICE to ‘go home’ and leave the city. Now, Steve Kerr has shared his thoughts, strongly criticizing the U.S. government.
President Donald Trump said the ICE agent acted in self-defense and blamed the ‘radical left’ for Good’s death. But many people, including Kerr, believe the government is not telling the truth to protect the agent involved.
Kerr said, “I’m glad the Timberwolves honored her life and recognized how tragic her death was. It’s really shameful that law enforcement officers who kill someone can seem to get away with it.” He added, “It’s also shameful that the government lies about what happened when there is video and witnesses that tell a different story.”
He continued, “It’s very sad and upsetting to lose someone like this. My heart goes out to her family and the whole city. I’m thankful the Timberwolves showed their sadness.”
The Trump administration claims Good tried to run over the ICE officer and blocked the road, calling it ‘domestic terrorism.’ But Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called this “garbage” after watching the videos and hearing eyewitnesses, who say she did not threaten anyone.
The investigation is still ongoing, and ICE agents are still in the city as part of what the Department of Homeland Security calls the biggest operation they’ve ever done.
