Trent Alexander-Arnold could be Real Madrid’s way out, as four Premier League clubs think about making a surprise move.
Trent Alexander-Arnold might have a way out of Real Madrid, as four Premier League clubs are showing interest in him.
The 28-year-old right-back is in his second full season at Real Madrid after moving from his hometown club Liverpool in the summer of 2025. Real paid up to €10 million to bring him over earlier so he could play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, instead of waiting for his contract with Liverpool to end.
Trent left Liverpool after winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. But since joining Real, injuries and form have kept him from reaching the same highs. He’s made just 41 appearances for Real so far and was even on the bench without playing in their recent 4-1 win over Sevilla.
In that game, Jose Mourinho chose to play Federico Valverde at right-back instead of Trent. Mourinho said it’s tough to leave two great right-backs on the bench, but Trent has only started three of Real’s nine La Liga matches this season, raising questions about his future.
He’s under contract until 2031, but reports say he’s getting frustrated with limited game time and is thinking about what’s next. Four Premier League teams, including his old club Liverpool, are keeping an eye on him. Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea—now managed by his former Real boss Xabi Alonso—are also interested. Even a Bundesliga club managed by Vincent Kompany is watching the situation.
Real Madrid isn’t pushing Trent out, but they would think about selling him if a good offer comes in, especially since he still has almost five years left on his contract.
