Turki Alalshikh is exploring the possibility of taking over a former Premier League champion.
The most influential man in boxing might be interested in buying Leicester City, the Premier League winners from 2015/16.
Earlier this year, Turki Alalshikh was trying to buy Derby County, a Championship club, but he stepped back in August. He said his group couldn’t strengthen the team since the season had already started.
As talks of a takeover grow stronger at Leicester, who are struggling, Alalshikh’s name has come up as a possible buyer to replace the current owners, King Power.
According to talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs, Leicester’s bosses have quietly checked if Alalshikh is interested since the club is up for sale. However, it’s unclear if Alalshikh is personally involved or just being considered.
Businessman Neil Lal, who leads a group wanting to take over Leicester, says the owners want £200 million and that the buyers would have to take on a lot of debt.
Leicester is now in League One after two relegations and hasn’t been doing well this season, so hearing Alalshikh’s name definitely gets people’s attention.
Back in September 2025, Alalshikh said he wasn’t going to buy Bristol City, even though they had talked about a possible deal.
Alalshikh was very close to leading new owners at Derby, but last month he said the deal was on hold since the season had already started.
He understands that the EFL and IFR take their time checking new owners, which is normal and necessary. Both had approved his deal, but his group decided not to continue.
With the season underway, Alalshikh said there wasn’t enough time to prepare the team or club properly, so they chose not to go ahead right now but want to keep talking in the future.
