Tyson Fury shares a surprising claim about his fight with Anthony Joshua after a important contract detail comes out
Tyson Fury has thrown some doubt on his planned all-British heavyweight fight with Anthony Joshua, while Joshua has shared a big contract condition he wants to add.
Both fighters have matches coming up this weekend. Fury, who calls himself the ‘Gypsy King,’ will weigh in at 265lbs before his fight against Poland’s Mariusz Wach. The fight will be held in Pattaya, Thailand, on Friday (July 24) with just 1,500 fans watching. It won’t be shown on TV but will be part of the next season of Netflix’s *At Home with the Furys*. The ticket money will go to local charities.
Then, on Saturday (July 25), Joshua will fight Albania’s Kristian Prenga. This will be Joshua’s first fight since he was in a fatal car accident in December 2025 that sadly took the lives of his friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele. Joshua only had minor injuries.
Both fighters facing lower-profile opponents around the same time suggests they could finally meet for the big fight later this year. Speaking to BOXING Now, Joshua said he wants the fight to happen at London’s Wembley Stadium.
“I’m pushing for it to be at Wembley,” he said. “It’s in our contract; Eddie [Hearn] made sure of that. He wants it in the UK. I think that’s still the plan? Or maybe that’s just talk… Either way, I need to focus on Prenga right now.”
While Joshua seems ready for a big fight with Fury soon, Fury hinted he might take another fight first. Talking to Sky Sports, Fury went on a sharp rant about Joshua, making it clear he’s open to fighting someone else later this year.
“Let’s not make this about silly Mr. Bodybuilder,” Fury said. “I’m not interested in him or his crew. I really don’t care if I ever see him again. If I do, great; if not, no worries.
“I want to focus on this fight with Wach, do well, and then see what comes next. I know I can beat Wach easily with one hand, and I’m in great shape—no injuries, ready to go. There are five months left this year, so I might fight again before then. If it’s Joshua, good; if not, I’ll fight someone else.”
Joshua responded by saying he will do his part by beating Prenga and took a playful jab at Fury’s appearance.
“He’s always talked about my body,” Joshua said. “I’d be happy to help him get in shape—turn that big belly into a six-pack. If he’s interested, I can show him what it takes. He’s obsessed with my abs.
“The fight is on. Once I win my next match, I’ll have done my part. Now it’s up to ‘Mr. Greedy Belly’ to step up and make it happen.”
Meanwhile, Fury has also been linked to a fight with Agit Kabayel, which adds another interesting possibility for his future.
