The UK gave a warning about the Man City 115 charges decision during the Premier League investigation.

A new report suggests that Manchester City’s 115 charges case might shake things up politically in the UK.

Back in February 2023, the Premier League accused City of breaking financial rules 115 times over nine years. A three-month hearing wrapped up in December 2024, with a three-person Independent Commission listening to both sides. But even after 18 months, there’s still no official verdict.

Meanwhile, City hasn’t slowed down—they’ve signed new players, landed a huge 10-year, £1 billion deal with Puma, and opened a new stand named after their famous manager, Pep Guardiola. People have been wondering when the decision would come out, but the biggest legal case in Premier League history is still ongoing.

According to Bloomberg, which spoke to insiders, some United Arab Emirates officials warn that a bad outcome could hurt their improved relationship with the UK. City is owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who bought the club in August 2008 and has invested billions since. Sheikh Mansour is the UAE’s vice president, and his brother is the president.

Recently, Sheikh Mansour had a chat with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who was Manchester’s mayor for nine years. The UAE has also invested heavily in Manchester, including building the City Football Academy, and reportedly brought up the charges and their possible impact in talks with the UK government last year. Burnham, an Everton fan, said he wants to see Manchester City treated fairly and openly in 2024.

Throughout all this, City has strongly denied any wrongdoing and says they have solid proof they are innocent. If they lose, tough penalties could follow, like point deductions, fines, or even being kicked out of the Premier League.

The long wait has frustrated everyone. Premier League chief Richard Masters admitted he’s annoyed by the delay and said he can’t share any updates until the decision is ready. “Our rules are clear—I have to keep everything confidential until then,” he told Sky News. “There’s only one way forward: to let the process finish. It’s taken longer than we thought, and I get why people are frustrated.”

At his first press conference, new manager Enzo Maresca was asked about the charges. He said, “I don’t have any concerns personally.”
