Virgil van Dijk is no longer seen as ‘untouchable’ as top European clubs show interest in Liverpool’s captain.
Virgil van Dijk was expected to finish his career at Liverpool, with his contract ending after this season. However, it now looks like the club might let the Dutch star leave this summer if the right offer comes in.
When Van Dijk joined Liverpool from Southampton under Jurgen Klopp, he seemed like the perfect final piece for the team. With him on board, Liverpool went on to win both the Champions League and the Premier League. Even after Klopp left, Van Dijk stayed strong and helped the team win the Premier League again under new manager Arne Slot in 2025.
Lately, though, Van Dijk hasn’t been quite as dominant as before, so Liverpool could be open to selling their captain if a good offer arrives. According to reports from TEAMtalk, several clubs are interested in signing him for next season, including some top European teams.
Liverpool is gearing up for a new chapter under Andoni Iraola, and a few big names like Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah have already left. So, Van Dijk’s potential exit wouldn’t be a big surprise.
One club that’s shown interest is AC Milan, who have won the Champions League seven times. Former Manchester United manager Rubin Amorim even called Van Dijk a “dream signing” for the Italian club. But Milan isn’t the only team keen on him.
Turkey’s biggest clubs, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, are both interested in bringing Van Dijk to Istanbul. There’s also talk of clubs from the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer watching the situation closely.
It’s important to note that Liverpool and their new manager Iraola aren’t actively trying to sell Van Dijk. But if the right offer comes along, the club would be willing to consider it.
