A full video of Pep Guardiola’s intense argument with Kyle Walker, which ended with the famous Manchester City coach in tears, has been shared online. Guardiola left City last season after 10 trophy-filled years, and Enzo Maresca has taken over as manager.

A four-part documentary called “A Beautiful Obsession,” made by City Studios, is now on Amazon Prime Video. It offers a close and honest look at City during Guardiola’s last two seasons at the Etihad Stadium. With a rare behind-the-scenes look, viewers see Guardiola’s strong passion and intensity in the locker room before and after games.

One emotional moment happened at Anfield in December 2024, after City lost 2-0 to Liverpool, who eventually won the Premier League title. City was going through a tough time, with six losses in seven games across all competitions, and feelings were running high.

In a clip from the documentary, Guardiola talks about a moment when Walker lost the ball, leading to a penalty scored by Mo Salah. Guardiola told his captain: “Kyle has to know that if you lose the ball, it’s a goal.” Walker sat on the floor, clearly upset, and said, “I react to someone. If you keep saying my name in every meeting, in every f***ing meeting – then you’re going to get a reaction. For f***s sake! Every meeting, it’s my name.”

Guardiola replied, “Maybe it’s because you are our captain.” Walker shot back, “You didn’t want me to be captain.” Voted captain by his teammates, Walker told Guardiola that he often brought up his name during meetings.

Guardiola became emotional as he spoke to the team: “If you take it personally, Kyle, then I’m sorry. After nine years together, in good times and bad, this is my defeat. If I’m the problem, then tell me. I won’t stay here just for money or because I have to. I extended my contract because I want to fight alongside you. I don’t want you to feel I’m leaving or running away.”

He added, “If you feel there’s a problem, especially as captains, tell me. It won’t change the love I have for all of you. I just want to fight. I’m sorry.”

The next month, Walker asked to leave City and joined AC Milan on loan for the rest of the season. In the documentary, Guardiola also referred to Walker’s departure before a 1-1 draw with Chelsea, questioning the captain’s behavior.

“So sad, what happened with Kyle,” Guardiola said. “It was easy for him to just say ‘I’m tired’ to me. But you can’t act like that as a captain, especially in the tough times. What did you do, my friends? What did you do with your captain? Tell me.”

Walker later signed a two-year deal with Burnley. For his final season at City, Guardiola chose Bernardo Silva as captain. Under new boss Maresca, Ruben Dias is now the team captain as City prepare to play Bournemouth on Sunday.
