Why Harry Kane’s next game for England will be the most touching moment of his career

The evening of November 12 is set to be a special one for Harry Kane. He’ll be showing off his Ballon d’Or trophy at Wembley and is also on the brink of becoming England’s all-time appearance record holder.
Kane is the first English player since Michael Owen in 2001 to win the Ballon d’Or, beating stars like Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to take home football’s biggest individual award.
At 33 years old, Kane has earned all the praise. For Bayern Munich, he scored an incredible 61 goals in just 51 games across all competitions. For England, he added another 12 goals, including six at the World Cup.
After scoring a total of 73 goals in the 2025-26 season for club and country, Kane matched former goalkeeper Peter Shilton’s record by making his 125th appearance for England. In fact, Kane became England’s top scorer, netting twice in a 3-0 win over Czechia on October 6, bringing his international goals to 91.
If Kane plays in the Nations League game against Croatia on November 12, he will break Shilton’s record and become England’s most-capped player with 126 appearances. We expect he’ll proudly show his Ballon d’Or trophy at that moment — a huge milestone in an amazing career.
Kane’s path to the top wasn’t easy. He was loaned out to Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich, and Leicester before getting his big chance at Tottenham under Tim Sherwood.
After winning the Ballon d’Or, Kane shared a heartfelt message on social media: “Work hard in silence. Let success be your noise.”
He also spoke about his journey at the awards ceremony, saying, “My journey wasn’t straightforward. I didn’t get to the top right away. I had to go through a lot of loans and fight my way up.”
Tim Sherwood, Kane’s former Spurs manager, recalled giving Kane his first Premier League start. Kane scored the first goal in a 5-1 win over Sunderland back in April 2014, and the rest is history. Kane became Tottenham’s all-time top scorer before moving to Bayern Munich.
Sherwood told Sky Sports, “He wasn’t getting anywhere at first. He wasn’t in the first-team squad, so it was a moment where I gave him a chance to show what he could do.”
