Wild FPL advice suggests players avoid using the GW3 Wildcard or Triple Captain because of a strange reason.

Fantasy Premier League managers have been given a friendly heads-up about using their wildcards or triple captain chips this week — and the reason is a bit unexpected.

After one of the highest scoring gameweeks ever, lots of managers are excited to hit 100+ points again. So, many are looking at Gameweek 3 as the perfect time to use their special chips. But, the weather might shake things up.

Following Bruno Fernandes’ huge score against Ipswich last weekend, managers who chose Erling Haaland as captain will want to bounce back because he’s playing Coventry City at home this week. With City facing a team near the bottom of the league, it looks like a great chance for goals — which is why many are ready to use their triple captain chip on Haaland.

At the same time, managers who didn’t start well or who want to switch things up might use their wildcards to make unlimited transfers and rebuild their teams.

However, El Nino — a weather pattern that brings warmer ocean water and storms — could cause problems. Storms are expected in the UK over the next few months, and this may lead to some matches being postponed.

As Fpl Tactician pointed out on social media, if matches get postponed, we could see double gameweeks — where a team plays twice and has two chances to score big. These usually happen later in the season, around Gameweek 19, and are the best time to use your chips.

He shared on X: “Don’t feel unlucky if you use Triple Captain this week and double gameweeks happen for Chelsea (who aren’t in Europe) before Christmas. Games might be called off this autumn because of storms.”

Normally, managers don’t worry about postponements early in the season, but any games involving teams in Europe are likely to be rescheduled after Gameweek 19 because those teams have busy calendars.

So, is Gameweek 3 still a good time to play your chips? The short answer is yes.

While double gameweeks could happen before Gameweek 19 — which would be ideal for using chips — you probably don’t want to wait just in case the weather causes delays.

If you do wait and it works out, great! But Haaland in good form against a weaker team is a solid chance to use your triple captain now. Plus, if your team needs a refresh, targeting City players with a wildcard or free hit could pay off.

In the end, it’s up to you — but don’t miss out just waiting for the weather to decide!
