WNBA Player’s Answer When Asked About Starting an OnlyFans During Pay Disagreement
WNBA star Sophie Cunningham shared an honest answer when asked about starting an OnlyFans account during the league’s pay dispute.
Cunningham, now a free agent, opened up about her future in the WNBA and what her plans might be if she doesn’t get a new contract. This is her first time as an unrestricted free agent, after playing the 2025 season with the Indiana Fever.
She had a chat with Caleb Pressley on Sundae Conversation, where he asked her some questions about WNBA salaries. When Pressley asked if she was getting paid, she said, “Oh, you know, just barely, but we’re still surviving.”
Pressley noted she was “figuring it out” with her contract, and Cunningham confirmed, “I am.” Known for his funny interviews, Pressley joked that if the WNBA didn’t work out, she’d have a Plan B. Cunningham laughed and corrected him, saying, “Not Plan B. Project B.”
When asked if Project B had any Saudi backing, she said, “No Saudi money involved,” adding she doesn’t think Saudi Arabia is interested in paying women athletes millions.
The talk then shifted to the idea of earning money through OnlyFans, a popular platform used by athletes like tennis star Nick Kyrgios and Olympian Alysha Newman. Pressley wondered if she really needed the league given her star power. Cunningham explained, “No, I think you do need the leagues ‘cause that’s what gives you the platform to have all these fans.”
Still, she admitted that direct-to-fan platforms like OnlyFans have their own power, saying, “OnlyFans can be a platform in themselves,” and joked, “Maybe Project B should support that platform.”
Whether she’ll actually start an OnlyFans is still unknown, but her thoughts give a clear look at the challenges faced by WNBA players during this tough pay dispute. If she does, she wouldn’t be the first — ex-WNBA star Liz Cambage also has an OnlyFans account.
